Džumelec is Erik Sikora, and Erik Sikora is Džumelec. Both return to this year’s JAMA after last year’s catchy refrain em-pá-tia, ready to finish what they started. They bring with them a new project – a performative lecture titled Džura, which Erik created in/for the pit (džura) near Veľký Klátov. Where better to reprise it than in the pit of pits, the caldera, the jama?

Džura is a guide on how to deal with a pit when you’re afraid to go inside and are curious about the boundary between worlds. This years-long research into coping with the mouth of a mining tunnel, now transferred to the kingdom of tunnels, will be presented in the form of an applied, vivid, juicy lecture.

Erik Sikora is a Košice-based artist and educator. He works at FUTU Košice in the new media and photography studio. Erik creates videos that straddle YouTube and the gallery space. Refusing to simply bring USB sticks full of finished works to galleries, he performs live through performative lectures or as a songwriter under the name Džumelec, since the word artist is just not jammy, porous, or chatty enough.
