Alvin Lucier (USA)

American composer of experimental music and author of sound installations. He is considered a pioneer in many areas of sound production. He experimented with e.g. using brainwaves in live performances, echolocation, or interference. In the eighties, he began writing compositions for solo instruments, chamber ensembles, and orchestras. Many of Lucier’s works are considered “classics” of contemporary music today. One of these classics is I am Sitting In A Room from 1970, a sound installation based on the use of the acoustic properties of space for musical purposes. The record of one of the performances is a part of the MoMA collection.
